Making Mugs

Below are some quick peeks into the process behind my mug making. I have been very busy working in the studio lately! I have been nothing short of obsessed with making nesting and stacked sets in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors. Mug making has become a little treat, a break from the plates, platters and bowls I seem to be making faster than I can fire.

I love making bowls. I make bowls most, use bowls most, sell bowls most.. but something about these cooler temperatures, the darkening evenings and the subtle change in the leaves has me loving a hot cup of tea! And, not just the tea, but the actual holder, the mug. I decided it was time to finally take on some serious mug making!

Bisque fired pieces with leaf drawing started.

Drawing is revisited and the values darkened. Next comes glazing...
Stay tuned!
